The folks over on the Ninja Tune Msg Boards put together a Frankenmix of all of their favorite Hardcore tunes from back in the day and not so far back in the day. Usually these collab mixes lose the plot and suck in their varied approach. But with hardcore being a multi-faceted beast this mix works as a perfect primer of all of the angles (drillcore, ravey hardcore, industrial hardcore, noisecore). Baseck - Darkmatter Cassette Mix (MP3)

Baseck is an odd duck... kinda like if Squarepusher and DJ Craze had a baby. Technically adept as a turntablist with selections that tend towards squelchy breakcore and noise bombs. Was hipped to this kid by DJ /Rupture (who is moving back to NYC this summer btw!). This is some dark shit that Baseck is throwing down but if you listen hard enough you might just get it...
