Dylan Garret - Keeping It Up (MP3)

(Single-click for the download, you don't need to right-click.) Man, this is a bizarre mix. It started as a live recording of a set I played at the PopCultureShock.com party in Manhattan a couple months back, then my computer corrupted the file, so a couple other bits were cut in at home to fill the gaps. In the end, you’ve just got a really eclectic set. Some hip-hop, some randomness, a touch of the mainstream, a lot of funking it up, all with a healthy dose of ADD. All vinyl, as always. So if you’re cruising Blentwell because you have no idea what the hell you want to hear today, maybe there’s a little something in the randomness here for you. Artist list: Five Deez - Luscious Jackson – Nomo - Spank Rock - The Black Keys - Cut Chemist – Quasimoto – Busdriver - Omega Watts - Mark Ronson featuring Alex Greenwald - Pete Rock & CL Smooth – Amerie - Beastie Boys – Quantic - Lords of the Underground – Nobody - Source Site:http://www.bridgeandcauseway.net

Dylan Garret - Fire Escapes at Midnight (MP3)

Another summer winding down, another fall settling into the city, another day of digging for the right soundtrack to fit it all. Here in New York, a city that prides itself on being cutting edge in everything but air conditioning, after a day of sweating and surviving, sometimes it all boils down to that gorgeous moment at the end of every night, when you sit on your fire escape in Brooklyn, enjoying whatever breeze you get for as long as you can, maybe smoking a cigarette, and stare off at the skyline of a metropolis just one swipe of a MetroCard away. But this ain't poetry, it's music. So! In honor of the 100 degree heat, here's a quick set of chill-out music to cool you down, get me? Downtempo with some scattered hip-hop, and a chance of isolated showers. Check the website for info, and also hit me up on MySpace, if you're into THAT whole thing: http://www.myspace.com/bridgeandcauseway - Source Site:http://www.bridgeandcauseway.net

Dylan Garret, Live @ Shebeen (SoHo, NYC) 04-14-06 (MP3)

To make up for my hiatus in posting proper mixes, here's a quickie live recording from the regular Friday night gig at Shebeen in NYC (at least when I'm playing). A little over 30 minutes long, all vinyl, not polished or planned in the least, recorded on a nearly-broken MiniDisc that may just have been the first MD ever constructed, with crude tools by cavemen beatmakers from times long gone. The usual style of downtempo electronica, mixed with underground, independent, and old-school (read: chill) hip-hop. Hope this mini-set chills out many of your late-night hours. - Source Site:http://www.bridgeandcauseway.net

A massive, raw, live set from this past summer, too tasty not to belatedly toss up here. Recorded from my (Dylan Garret's) going away party in Miami, the night before moving to NYC. Some of Miami's finest crate-diggers swing through, throwing down classic funk, R&B, old soul, new soul, disco, old-school and independent hip-hop, a bit of house, downtempo, and everything else we had floating around the milk-crates (including live MC performances in Part 4) -- DJs New Sheriff, Mr. Brown, Lumin, Kems, Sire, Le Spam, & Dylan Garret, w/ Rita J, Super Toy, & Max Decibels providing live MC talent on the mic. Over 6 hours of beats, divided into 5 parts, to keep things manageable (and CD-burnable). Hope you dig.
Dylan Garret (Bridge & Causeway) - When You Say That Smile - The Jet Set Radio 3 Soundtrack (MP3)

An uptempo mix, posted December 8th 2005. An electronica set inspired by too many hours playing Jet Set Radio and JSRF, it is divided into three unofficial segments: Part 1 (00:00 - 28:00) is Shibuya-cho, part 2 (28:00 - 55:45) is Kogane-cho, which would make part 3 (55:45 - 1:31:20) Benten-cho. Part 1 is sunnier, part 2 is sunset, part 3 is neon-nighttime, you dig? Hope so. - Source Site:http://www.bridgeandcauseway.net
