Since his move from Detroit to Berlin last year, his name has constantly been mentioned as one to watch, and right now, as the buzz about him turns into a roar, Killer Robot is proud to bring him to South Africa. Seth Troxler has been active in the Detroit scene since age 15, playing gigs at venues like The Works and Carbon. He made the inevitable move to Berlin in 2007, forging close ties with a small band of American producers there that included Butane, Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss. Since then he has ascended to the ranks of international techno royalty through a series of highly influential releases on Spectral, Magda’s Items & Things label (as Thrill Cosby), Circus Company, Esperanza, Beretta Grey, Leftroom, and Dumb Unit. (His ‘Love Berserker’ on Beretta was on constant rotation at Killer Robot throughout 2007.) He has played many outstanding international gigs, notably Panorama Bar, Watergate, Robert Johnson, Harry Klein, Batofar, City Fox, The Rex and LA’s Avalon, and NYC’s Wolf + Lamb parties and is also a key conceptual force behind the Visionquest production group with partners Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss. His DJ sets reflect a musician’s interest in dance music roots as well as its future and range from eclectic jazz & rare groove to minimal funk & percussive techno.
