Erol Alkan - Beyond the Wizards Sleeve (MP3)

Well as part of his podcast series he just released this lil gem. A Zodiac inspired electro-hippie discourse that will get your bootie moving. Have you been holding off on chatting up that hot hippie chick at the bakery? Well now you've got the perfect weapon! A straight up freak out mix that is certain to pull more fans for Erol beyond his usual electro tweakers. Go ahead and chow on the brown acid! - it may be bad but this mix is so good that it will balance out, man....

Protokoll - No Men Mixtape (MP3)
Boston bred - San Diego based Protokoll had a stand out track ('Moving Forward') on the recent Scion/I heart comix remix CD. With their bauhaus inspired mood rock combined with a dancefloor friendly beat selection these boys look to be on the way up! They recently put this mixtape together which doesn't feature their own music but certainly serves as a good barometer of their own musical tastes (from Lisa Lisa & the Cult Jam to Throbbing Gristle). A great mix of party jams, mashups and more.
Genres: blends, electro, indie, mash-up, remixes, rock

DJ Medi4 - Silent Disco Bonnaroo Fest 07 (MP3)
Over the years there have been attempts at pulling this type of thing off to varying levels of success. A club where everyone listens to the sound system via headphones. With the onset of wireless headphones it is becoming more and more of a viability. And this set played at this years Bonnaroo Silent Disco by the one and only Dj Medi4 - had people waiting in line for hours trying to get a pair of headphones. Bonnaroo being a Rawk Fest - Medi4 hits the crowd with some hype rock mixes and more. Fans of Z-trip should check this set of party rocking jams for sure.

DJ ediT - Hefty Flossed Out (MP3)
Check it out as LA's DJ ediT takes the the young virginal Hefty Records Catalog out for a blind date and brings her home crunk as hell, in a tattered dress, with 3 new piercings and a limp. Holy shit ediT what did you do?!? All kinds of groovy ass artists (Savath & Savalas, Eliott Lip, Telephon Tel Aviv, Some Water and Sun and more) get mashed into hyphee-ass party bangers.
Genres: blends, hip-hop, mash-up, rock

DJ 2nd Nature - DVJ Video Mix (Quicktime)
When I hear about video mixing I always think of EBN back in the day. Really cool but kinda nerdy stutter-style eye candy. But 2nd Nature takes it to a whole new level! Part mash-up, part video, part mixset this raises the bar for club DJs. Definitely on the pop side of club tracks so for you white label snobs you should probably pass this bye.
Genres: club, crunk, mash-up, pop, rock, video

Optimo Djs - the Tropicalia mix (MP3)
Highlighting another little known but HUGELY influential music movement, take the 30 minutes to listen to this mix. A style of music bourne from samba + bossanova + rock's psychedelia = Tropicalia! And woah what a crazy style of music it was (leading to the exile of one of it's early creators). But here the Optimo Boys take you on a nice stroll around the Favela.
Genres: blends, bossanova, rock, samba

Mr. Scruff - Keep it Unreal Milk Mix (HTML→Real Audio)
Mr. Scruff drops some of the mellowest cuts that somehow keep you hype.. I know I know it does not make sense but you've gotta hear it to understand. Unf. only available in RealAudio.. but better than nothing. Thanks to the Milkmen up North for keeping the fresh beats flowing!

James Murphy - Big Day Out Mix (MP3)
LCD Soundsystem spinning live at the "Big Day Out". Lickle bit of radio chatter at the start of this mix but a great outing for Mr. James Murphy on the decks. Full of funky beats and quality cow-bell jams.
Mr. Trick - Teaching Andy to Suck Eggs (MP3)
Is that Freedom Rock, man? Well Crank it Up! Yes Mr. Trick steps outside of the contemporary "dj" boundaries with this mix of classic rock cuts and not-so classic obscure rock ephemera. But ho boy! What a trip across the fjords of undiscovered rock tracks! Any aspiring producers out there should pay close attention to the breakbeats in these tracks as this is some of the real shit that will eventually be bitten by the Neptunes et al. Seriously if you wanna take a vacation from programmed 4/4 beats this is the joint right here! Huge shout to Mr.Trick for correcting Mr. Blentwell's illiterate ass!
Genres: acid rock, classic rock, rock

Annie - K7! Flavor Mix (Real Audio)
Look out! Hipster Royalty comin thru! Anne Lilia Berge-Strand aka Annie (the Norwegian super-nova of pop cool) drops a new DJKicks mix in hopes of resurecting that once proud mix CD series. Annie doesn't just kick back and drop the expected indie-punk-pop fodder, instead she digs a little bit deeper and comes up with a mix with sweet selections.
