Ginz - Data Transmission no 59 (MP3)
The Purple Wow Sound? Okay I love sub-sub-micro-genres as much as anybody but is this for real? Take a click and listen.... I'll wait for you to scope out the first track on this mix. WTF is that? X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X That is the PURPLE WOW SOUND, MAN! ok I'm hooked. Ginz originally from the US has moved to Bristol UK to get his sound out there in the burgeoning dubstep scene. Kind of like a UK DJ Screw crossed with a bit of the edgier fwd thinking dubstep. Really off-kilter beats combined with huge keyboard stabs and sloppy bass line madness. Sheesh... Oh yeah and BIG UP Ben G at Data Transmission for keeping the quality blends flowing!

Favela Clash - Cassiano (Nossa) (HTML→MP3)
Gotta admit I took my time cracking this mix open. I've been overwhelmed with a ton of mediocre Baile Funk mixes lately and they are all starting to sound the same. Within the genre there are a few stand out mixes (Diplo, Sujinho, Marlboro) that are floating around. But there are also HUNDREDS of lackluster baile funk mixes with the same 12 songs! Well let me take full blame - MY BAD! Cassiano (partner in Nossa with Sujinho) brings the fun back to Baile Funk with this mix made up of Brazillian flavors mixed up with some new dancefloor heat. Def. recommended (even if it is a damn zShare link!)
Genres: baile funk, club, funk, hip-hop, techno

T&T - DFA dance party at MoMA (MP3)
T&T (Tim Sweeney & Tim Goldsworthy) team up on this set for a sweet slice of fresh cake. And the whole thing starts out with that Hercules & Love Affair track that still gets dance floors going wild. Get ready for tons of dancefloor fodder that will be sure to get things moving. Also if you are feeling the DFA sound - be certain to peep the Source Site on Moma.org as they've got 3 other sets from other DFA label folks (Juan Maclean, Holy Ghost!, Justin Miller & Jacques Renault).

Ben Mono- Lime Sorbet Mix (MP3)
Florida's Citrona label has been running an incredible mix show by Germany's Quincy Jointz. Past guests include Bigga Bush, Rephrase and others. This show comes at you from Compost's Ben Mono and with a new album coming soon this should give Mono fans a good sneak peek at what the album will be like. A good dash of 80's soul vibe combined with quality modern soul/R&B vocals and funky ass breakbeats smooshed together.
Frequento - Bouncing Floor Bomb (MP3)
There is that "oh shit" moment when a live grenade comes skittering across the floor and eases to a halt. You are frozen in your steps - though your head is screaming "GET OUT!". That deer in headlights moment is exactly what I went thru with this Frequento mix. He dropped a dime to me about his mixes and I clicked in - this blend starts off on a great soulful vibe but then a shiny grenade came sliding into frame when that killer guitar/synth lick from "Der Kommisar" drops. Oh shit! Is he gonna take it sideways like that? And even in the face of eminent destruction you cannot help but listen and shake. If you are starving for a soulful/hip-hop/funk nugget this is the mix for you. Word to Frequento for dropping bombs like this! And word to the whole Leipzig/Sunset Soul crew for keeping the downbeat vibe alive!
Grant Phabao & Djouls - Latin Madness (MP3)
When you see a mix labelled as Afro-Latin there are only two possibilites - snooze-core, massage parlor background noise or killer latin icing on top of a afro-beat funk cake. Lucky for us the latter is the case with this super-cool mix. It's like the Latin Kings put out a hit on my ass! The Paris Djs step out with another killer selection, and be certain to click thru to the source for some sweet album art made up by Djouls.

Citizen Kane Live in the Mix (MP3)
When I hear about a DJ selecting unheard Disco gems and roping them together I do not really have high hopes. I mean the whole disco universe of music is a finite thing. How deep can you really dig? Well Citizen Kane proves all theories wrong with this killer mix of unheard gems blended with familiar grooves. And as a standout in the middle of the mix there is a killer disco groove that obviously influenced JayDee's "Plastic Dreams". Sweet boogie gold.
Genres: disco, funk, house, rare grooves
Free Spankrock - Rick Rubin Download! (HTML)
The lovely folks over at Big Dada are serving up a free slice of SpankRo MP3. Get em while their hot! This Rick Rubin track was the lead in cut on the Spankrock Money Studies Mix CD that basically put them on Blast to start with. I would say it is the least dirty track in the Spankrizzo rapertoire. (* aside from the new instrumental version of the YoYoYoYoYo album)
