Frequento - Bouncing Floor Bomb (MP3)

There is that "oh shit" moment when a live grenade comes skittering across the floor and eases to a halt. You are frozen in your steps - though your head is screaming "GET OUT!". That deer in headlights moment is exactly what I went thru with this Frequento mix. He dropped a dime to me about his mixes and I clicked in - this blend starts off on a great soulful vibe but then a shiny grenade came sliding into frame when that killer guitar/synth lick from "Der Kommisar" drops. Oh shit! Is he gonna take it sideways like that? And even in the face of eminent destruction you cannot help but listen and shake. If you are starving for a soulful/hip-hop/funk nugget this is the mix for you. Word to Frequento for dropping bombs like this! And word to the whole Leipzig/Sunset Soul crew for keeping the downbeat vibe alive!

Aurgasm.us - My 1st DJ Set (MP3)

Ok not particularly "blent-well" but "selected-well". This is a first time outing for Paul Irish of the Aurgasm.us mp3 blog. And while this would not be classified as "DJing" since the selecting was done beforehand and then roughly blent within Traktor. BUT this mix is not without merit; those Mp3 bloggers have access to huge catalog of cuts and beats and Mr. Aurgasm selects some killer summer-y tropicali-vibe cuts from all over the spectrum and it makes for a breezy afternoon hour of music.

If you like dub, you owe it to yourself to get educated. And listening to Smith&Mighty 20 times does not count. The DubSession is an outstanding dub podcast with episodes devoted to the various flavors and styles of dub music. I have always has a soft spot for Vienna's Dub Club and this Dubcast showcases all of the dub music that has been flowing out of Vienna thanks to the Dub Club and the many other Austrian artists. If you are hankering to go back to the days of Kruder & Dorfmeister this set it for you.
