This episode is brought to us from a long time favorite of the Blentwell crew - DJ R-Ron Hubbard. After gaining much attention online with his early "No Crease Walk" mixtape since then he has been one to watch. N-Ron got in touch with us while in Brazil recording with local rappers and DJs as well as Blentcast no1-alum Maga Bo. This mix goes all over the map but keeps the beats dancefloor friendly - keep an ear out for some well placed mashups, dope Cumbia beats, booming Baile funk and more N-Ron bizness.

Gotta admit I took my time cracking this mix open. I've been overwhelmed with a ton of mediocre Baile Funk mixes lately and they are all starting to sound the same. Within the genre there are a few stand out mixes (Diplo, Sujinho, Marlboro) that are floating around. But there are also HUNDREDS of lackluster baile funk mixes with the same 12 songs! Well let me take full blame - MY BAD! Cassiano (partner in Nossa with Sujinho) brings the fun back to Baile Funk with this mix made up of Brazillian flavors mixed up with some new dancefloor heat. Def. recommended (even if it is a damn zShare link!)

I did harken down to the root cellar of my inbox and some of your emails have aged well like fine wines. One that I got a while back was a victim of tabbed browsing. Listening to a mix set in one tab and then visiting a myspace page; created a audio trainwreck that instantly gave these guys the stinkface. But then upon revisiting - I realized I had missed out on some pure uncut Columbian disco shit! Whoa! A little while there was a super fresh baile funk set from Atari that had folks losing their minds. And now she is back with another killer selection of brazil's finest. This set deviates from the standard 'baile funk' sound that most are familar with, with touches of Baile Funk to Electro to Post Punk to Tropicalia to Grime to Brega to Samba Rock to everything in between. NOTE: for those really in the know 'baile funk' just means 'funk party' so the more appropo term for this genre would be 'Pancadão'.

Ladytron - Live in the Mix at Milk (HTML→Real Audio)
