Bateria Com Funk (MP3)

a 10 minute mix with 7 tracks which presents the sound that is taking over Bailes in Rio mixing funk with Bahianese rhythms of Macumbinha or with Samba rhythms. The last track of the mix is even mixing Funk Carioca with Forro! This proximity between the tamborzao and this rhythms from the Nordeste can be quite easily explained by the sociology of Cariocas Favelas inhabitants. A large part of the population of favelas in Rio are from Pernambuco and other areas from Brazil north-east.

Last saturday, Ghislain Poirier organised the last edition of his Bounce Le Gros nights. During the last two years, Ghislain offered us one of the best night in Montreal, with great guests everytime. He's currently finishing his album to be released in the fall on Ninja Tune. I had the honor to open that final edition of a now legendary party and here's a part of my mix.
