Killer Robot - Mix for Kult (MP3)

Killer Robot was started in July 2006 at Fiction in Cape Town. Having already played on the same bill at various gigs around Cape Town, techno stalwart Ivan and Bruno Morphet, an established dj on the underground circuit, kicked off a night that would address the gap in the market for techno, electro, minimal and dub techno sounds. Upstart club Fiction provided the ideal stage for the endeavour with its forward thinking music policy and maverick attitude. The name Killer Robot was conceived both as tie in with Fiction’s b-movie promotional iconography, and a perfect description of the music that would come to define the night. Ivan and Bruno were joined by Fiction resident AK47, already a well known name in discerning circles for his breaks and electro sets. Since then Killer Robot has risen to become the premier night in Cape Town for electronic music and has become a destination for many its finest exponents from around the world, as well as a pilgrimage for like minded artists from South Africa. Artists from Kompakt to Ghostly International have played to packed dancefloors in its intimate surroundings, and as 2007 gathers momentum, the sonic conquest has only just begun… Heres some more goodness submitted by Bruno Morphet - October mix done for Kult.

Guido Schneider - Global Breakthrough - Africa Radio Mix (MP3)

Poker Flat Recordings’ brightest rising star, Guido Schneider has been producing electronic music since the early 90’s. Strongly influenced by “EBM“ he started his first project with a friend in 1991 with releases on SPV. In 1995 he founded his own Label “Neue Welten“ based in Celle, Germany. In 1996 he moved to Berlin where he began to fully focus on music. His productions and co-productions (e.g. as “Schneider & Radecki“ with Sammy Dee) always sounded sort of minimal, but were also exceptionally functional as he dared to stick his head out of his soundlab at an early stage. This together with the experiences from various live performances helped to perfect his tracks. Guedo was the headline act in November 2007 for one of the many succesfuly Global Breakthrough Festival Events which took place in CPT & JHB where he we played alongside a host of South Africa’s top DJ’s in the genre.
