[FKL][OM-PROJECT] EPIC: New Years Eve 2007 / 2008 (OVER 9 HOURS OF PSYTRANCE) (HTML→MP3)
On New Year’s Eve 2007 / 2008, a motley group of hippies, semi-hippies, punks, geeks, and yuppies traveled up a hill to welcome in 2008, bid good riddance to a long and successful 2007, and celebrate the 2nd anniversary of FoundationKL.org There’s really very little say except that we had a killer international lineup of some of the best psytrance DJs across the region. We also collaborated with Om Project (Singapore) to put together an experience that noone would ever forget. If it took me a month to finally write about it, can you imagine what the hangover was like? Anyway, I hope the pictures can speak allot clearer than what I’m trying to type out and the mixes will take you back to a strange misty hilltop where we had one of the best parties ever and marks the beginning of a long-standing alliance between Om Project and FoundationKL.org BOOM SHANKAR! [OVER 9 HOURS WORTH OF MIXES!] Foundationkl.org presents: N-stomp, one of the valiant coordinators of the Om Project plays a hard and aggressive sound bordering on the goan and the organic. FKL’s very own psytrance on-staff DJ, thesuperglo, puts us on a full on ride that’s headed towards the outer atmosphere. DJ Moudy from Lebanon plays a stomping set with an up-driving sonic assault as he takes us past midnight. Space Bass brings us on a melodic full-on journey with some Live PA. French ultra-underground psytrance DJ 3hm drops some killer psychedelics that border on the dark, fierce, and brooding. Morning Star from Singapore closes the EPIC party with an unforgettable mix that will leave the highlands quaking for another year!

For the latter part of 2007, EJ's sound pushed itself through realms of euphoric progressions into driving new-tribalism. Her signature introspection comes full circle in her latest mix, Solstice, as she weaves us through an elaborate lattice of ambient techno, mournful electro-bashing, and pumping kick-steps. Featuring the sublimations of Nathan Fake, Slam, Audion, Fairmont -- all huge production hard-hitters -- and many many others. [FKL] Dynasty - Freestyle (MP3)
I love the fact that we're starting off on such powerful footing for 2008. We listened to this mix pretty much just like how we listened to No.4's mix; with our jaws dragging on the floor and our collective ego's shrinking like testicles under a cold tap. What have our 2007 Project Ambassadors been smoking? Dynasty's latest mix is absolutely incredible. A tight mash between nu-breaky intervals slipped into some euphoric tribal / hard techno pounding. No angry violent German-esque shranz-nonsense. This is proper crowd-pumping artisty at the right time with the right head. Soulful, positive, funky, and excellent. Featuring class bangers Boriqua Tribez, choice DJ Rectangle cuts, and Greek maestro Axel Karakasis - mixed by one of our most skilled Ambassadors... Radzy and I were listening to this mix over the weekend, and we were very pleasantly suprised at the level of innovation that many of our artists have been rising rapidly towards. No.4's one of our artists that's really got to get credit for it though. This particular mix, opening with some Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, flows into a wonderfully introspective dubstep sound blending in and out of some beautiful lyricism and delicate mixing. Featuring dubstep sub-riders Loefah, Roll Deep, and some really unconventional blends into Switchblade Symphony and Trentemoller; this mix really highlights the hard work that No.4 has been putting in developing his signature aurally-philosophical sound. A masterpiece. F**k. What a great way to start the year. [FKL][FREE-BURMA] CbellJ - Operation: Free Burma [004] (MP3)
After a really really really really long haitus, CbellJ - the east Malaysian detonation specialist - sends us some solid big room in support of the Free Burma. The people of Burma need as much awareness brought to them as humanly possible. Anger incites Change. We are especially impressed at CBellJ's new HardNRG sound - which is a borderline between acid-techno's psychedelic elements, hard-trance's speed as well as hard-style's solid thumps. Beautifully mixed with some terrorizing Tidy Boys (When was the last time YOU heard that name? Me? 1994...), Grady, and the fearsome Technikal. Good to have you back CBellJ. [FKL-ONESHOTS] Ben Katana VS Bryan Burger - Live @ Twisted (21st August 2007) (HTML→MP3)
Ben Katana and Bryan Burger, two of the finest 1st generation Kuala Lumpur DJ’s have both left a serious dent on the psyche’s of Malaysia’s dance music generation. Both DJ’s have held court at the legendary club, Movement, in the heart of Kuala Lumpur - playing screamingly hard techno to bleary-eyed punters clinging to the walls only to get pounded flat into the concrete. And it’s pretty safe to say that these two, have pretty much kept it real: right up till now. Ben Katana - one of the earliest proponents of electro-clash in Malaysia, played Tiga’s ‘I Wear My Sunglasses at Night’ to a virgin crowd during Regenerate 02 back in the early ’00s, ushering a new age of electro-house and trashy dressing to an otherwise techno-bred scene. Bryan Burger, headmaster of the Royale DJ Academy, and boss of Excessive Records, introduced German-influenced techno and minimalism to the melting pot. Now, with the Hawtin-esque Ray Soo, continue to inform the scene with their flagship nights, Hotel Scandalos. And it is our great pleasure, that FoundationKL presents to you a solid back to back mix with two of our favorite DJs.
